Event: The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical depression forming in the central and western Caribbean Sea that could develop into a hurricane or tropical storm that may strike Nicaragua. This event could bring heavy rain to Nicaragua over the weekend and early next week, including the possibility of floods or landslides in affected areas.

Actions to Take:

  • Monitor the progress of this system because additional watches or warnings could be issued.
  • All U.S. citizens should ensure that they have adequate food, water, fuel and prescription medications on hand at all times as part of their standard emergency preparedness plan.
