Weather Alert: U.S. Embassy in Nicaragua (October 10, 2022)

Location: Throughout the country

Event: As a result of Tropical Storm Julia’s landfall on October 9, roads in some regions may be flooded.  Never attempt to drive through standing water; find alternate routes.  Electricity, water and telephone service remain interrupted in some areas.

All U.S. citizens should ensure that they have adequate food, water, fuel, and prescription medications on hand at all times as part of their standard emergency preparedness plan.  For more information, please visit the National Hurricane Center website at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/, and follow the advice of local authorities as provided on the SINAPRED website: http://www.sinapred.gob.ni/.

The American Citizen Services unit is also available by email during regular business hours at ACSManagua@state.gov.
