We send condolences to all of the families who lost loved ones in the tragic accident on January 23.

At the request of the Nicaraguan government, the United States is offering search and rescue assistance to help recover the four missing individuals. This is a cooperative operation between the Nicaraguan Navy and Air Force, the U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Department of Defense agencies U.S. Southern Command and Joint Task Force-Bravo.

A U.S. Coast Guard ship and its embarked helicopter with search and rescue capabilities have already arrived at the site of the accident. Four more Department of Defense helicopters capable of over water search and rescue have been dispatched to Nicaragua.
