Strong Waves along Pacific Coast

The United States Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua alerts U.S. citizens to an announcement from the Nicaraguan emergency alert system (SINAPRED) issued on Monday, May 4, that warns of strong waves along the Pacific coast of Nicaragua for the next 72 hours.

SINAPRED’s announcement recommends that visitors to the Pacific coast avoid entering the water and recommends against commercial and recreational fishing on both large and small boats. The alert also recommends that residents along the coastal zone self-evacuate, if necessary.

U.S. citizens are encouraged to monitor local media reports and follow guidance and instructions from local authorities.
