Protests/Road Blocks in Puerto Cabezas/Bilwi

U.S. Embassy Managua advises U.S. citizens living or traveling in Nicaragua of pop-up road blocks and protests in the area of Puerto Cabezas/Bilwi in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region (RACCN) on the Atlantic Coast.  Embassy personnel have been instructed to avoid the area through April 28.

Because even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can escalate into violence, U.S. citizens are advised to avoid crowds and blockades during such occurrences, to monitor local media reports, and to exercise caution when in the vicinity of any large gathering.
