Remarks by U.S. Ambassador to Nicaragua, Laura F. Dogu
Managua, September 9, 2017
I am impressed with the level of tenacity and the level of English of the two groups I visited. I loved the Texas presentation, because I am Texan. But the presentation about the city of León was also excellent.
To master a language, one needs to LIVE the language, and with your preparations and presentations it is very obvious that you all are living English. Now you know more about other places and you are preparing for the future. “How are you preparing?” Well, you all are practicing research skills, learning about organization, working in a team, fostering creativity, practicing public speaking, and strengthening your English learning. As a person who looks for the best employees to work with me at the Embassy, I look for all of these skills. And now you have them.
To the parents, I know that you all want a bright future for your children. With your support, they already have more options for the future. Thank you to CCNN for teaching not only English, but also U.S. culture and the necessary skills for the working world. Congratulations to all of you and I am going to finish because like you, I want to know who won.
