Event: COVID-19 cases and deaths are on the rise in many countries. The U.S. Embassy urges all U.S. citizens in Nicaragua to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to prevent contagion.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reminds U.S. citizens the safest way to celebrate the winter holidays it at home with people who live with you. Large gatherings with family and friends can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu.
The United States Government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.
U.S. citizens in Nicaragua should ensure they have an adequate supply of food, water, and medicine at all times. Visit Ready.gov for additional tips to prepare yourself for emergencies.
The Embassy has offered additional health-related guidance to its staff:

- Wear a cloth face covering whenever leaving your home and wash your face covering after every use
