The Embassy Hosts Regional Anti-Gang Working Group Meeting

People performing in front of an audience.The Embassy hosted a three day meeting to discuss anti-gang and INL programming in the region. The office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) hosted the other members of the Regional Anti-gang Working Group from Central America and Mexico. The workshop included a visit to the Fenix Foundation, an INL partner working with the community on drug prevention with at-risk youth. The program teaches parents how to better communicate with their children and ultimately bring them closer together. The visit included a look at the farm where the kids grow and harvest fruits and vegetables, one of many vocational programs offered by the Foundation.

People watching television.INL is currently funding four grant projects with NGO’s in Managua and the Caribbean Coast which aim to increase citizen security, provide civic education, reduce drug demand, and build the capacity of partner organizations. The INL Regional Anti-gang Working Group rotates it’s meetings amongst its members to share ideas, support each other, and experience firsthand the impact of INL-funded projects.
