EducationUSA Graduate Fair at CCNN

Remarks by U.S. Ambassador to Nicaragua, Laura F. Dogu
Thursday, September 21, 2017

Hello everyone.

The United States has some of the best universities in the world. Also, we are the most important business partner in Nicaragua. And English is the language of global business and the internet. Choosing a study program in the U.S. has many benefits for Nicaraguans. I know that the process of searching for programs can be complicated. Also, I understand that many people think that they do not have enough resources to study in the US. Or, some think it is difficult to qualify for a visa.

But with the right advice, it is possible to overcome all these barriers. The Education USA Office here in CCNN can guide you in the process and their advice is free. There you can ask about: what universities to choose from, what financing exists and what requirements you need.

Fairs like this one can help too. Representatives of the different universities that are here today are ready to share information about their programs, their cities, and the admission process for international students.

I want to share a personal experience. My husband is from Turkey. He has a very intelligent nephew who wanted to study in the U.S. for his master’s degree in engineering. He did not have resources, English, or a visa, but with the advice like Education USA provides, he was admitted to a program in Wisconsin. He received a full scholarship and received his visa. He has already graduated and building large and complex bridges and tunnels. If he can do it, you can too.

Your trip starts now.
Good luck.
