Remarks by U.S. Ambassador, Laura F. Dogu
Managua, July 11, 2017
I promise to be brief because I know that all of us here at the event are very excited to try the food, especially the delicious hamburgers from Carl’s Jr.
I want to congratulate CKE Restaurants and DeliStar on their partnership that led to the opening of the first Carl’s Jr. in Nicaragua. Developing a new brand in a new country requires commitment, patience, and creativity. It also requires having the right partner on the ground that understands the market and shares the same values. And I believe we have just such a relationship here. DeliStar has already shown it knows its way around chicken. I am confident that this experience, together with the well-known Carl’s Jr. brand, will allow them to achieve the optimum results in Nicaragua.
The United States and Nicaragua both benefit from partnerships between companies that generate prosperity for our two countries. In addition to new flavors, this time of partnership with U.S. businesses brings more jobs, training, and technical skills, and also strengthens local communities. Brands like Carl’s Jr. bring new choices to Nicaraguans. They also bring a familiar taste for the thousands of Americans that visit and live in Nicaragua. I know for a fact that many of my American employees at the Embassy will be among the first in line at this restaurant.
Carl’s Jr. is known for its piled-high charbroiled burgers, delicious shakes, and creative combinations. It is one of the most famous brands in the United States and I am pleased that Nicaraguans will have the opportunity to enjoy it.
So without further ado, congratulations again to Carl’s Jr. and DeliStar on your partnership and your entrance to Nicaragua. I am certain that everyone will love the flavors of Carl’s Jr.
