Ambassador Powers threw out the first pitch in Managua to inaugurate the US Embassy, Fabretto, Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and 4H leadership training for youth through sports program in Nicaragua. The trainings took place in Managua, Somoto and Cusmapa. The youth enjoyed learning about Quickball, a faster version of baseball that emphasizes teamwork rather than skill, to develop their leadership skills. It looked a bit like chaos but the participants had a lot of fun.
The second phase of this training will be in the United States in August. Great month to do baseball related events as MLB is back in season.
